6A HOMEWORK CLUB

The 6A team recognizes that homework is an extremely important aspect of our curriculum.

Homework is given for multiple reasons:

-to provide students with an opportunity to practice their critical thinking skills
-to provide students with an opportunity to work independently on class content
-to provide students with an opportunity to prepare for assessments and class activities

We recognize that there are times when students have questions about their homework or would like an opportunity to work on homework without distraction.  For some students, siblings, friends, and the things that go on at home once the school bus lets them off make it difficult to focus on completing all of their homework at home.   Also, sometimes students have questions about homework assignments that siblings and guardians simply aren't able to assist them with!

To that end, 6A conducts our own Homework Club with Mrs. Catalano and Mrs. Waddington on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 28 from 2:45-4:15, and with Mrs. Catalano on Wednesday and Thursday mornings (parent request only) in room 28 from 7:15-8:00.

While all students are invited to attend, students must contact Mrs. Catalano or Mrs. Waddington the Monday or Wednesday before they stay so that we can be prepared for the number of students attending.

Please note that the presence of a homework club in no way minimizes the importance of completing homework at home; the Homework Club should not be viewed as an alternative to completing homework at home, but rather an extra opportunity to work on assignments with two teachers present for guidance and support.
