2012-2013 McDONALD HOME & SCHOOL COMMITTEES
Decorating/Bulletin Boards: Hang decorations and/or information for the appropriate seasons throughout the school.
ESL Translators: English to Spanish Translator/Interpreter to help strengthen communications for entire school
Family Fun: All the below committees help to plan, organize, & coordinate activities that bring the family together for fun.
Dinner Date- have a dinner date with your family at specified restaurants throughout the year & proceeds go to our school
Mother/Son Event- annual event planned by volunteers just for Moms and Sons
Father/Daughter Event- annual event planned by the volunteers just for Dads and Daughters
Family Picnic- annual event where the whole family can join others picnicking on school grounds
Family Game Night- several organized games events organized throughout the year
May Fair- annual carnival-type event that is held in May for the whole family to enjoy
Roller Skating Parties- roller skating at the Palace Skating Rink throughout the school year. Fun for the entire family
Fifth Grade: Help fifth graders plan for special activities throughout the year. Extra fundraising is done for this committee
Holiday Gift Shop: Organize a staff of volunteers and stock the Gift Shop for students to purchase reasonable gifts.
Homeroom Parents: Plan and attend two classroom parties (Halloween & Valentine’s Day) Volunteer for Holiday Gift Shop
and May Fair. Chaperone class trips when needed. Clearances may be required.
Hospitality: Organize a staff appreciation event and other events throughout the year.
Library: Assist students with checking in/out library books. Shelve returned books and assist the librarian as needed.
Also, helps with special holiday activities throughout the year. Clearances may be required
Membership: Organize annual HSA membership drive. Committee will collect forms, money, prepare directory and distribute
Market Day: Organize and distribute monthly Market Day Food orders.
Newsletter: Collect news articles from various committees and publish in quarterly newsletter.
Recess/Playground: Purchase equipment for indoor and outdoor recess. Coordinate with Trash to Cash reward programs.
School sign: Update the outside school sign with upcoming events each month.
School Store: Opens every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:15 to 8:40AM. Volunteers help the children make purchases.
Scrip Gift Card Program: This committee distributes and collects order forms and money. The committee is then
responsible for placing the order with the gift card provider and separating and distributing the orders when they arrive.
Spirit Wear: Organize with a vendor the sell and distributing of School Spirit Wear (T-shirts and Sweat Shirts)
Trash to Cash=Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels, Pop Top Tabs, My Coke Rewards, ShopRite Rewards, Target/Take
Charge of Education and Giant Food Stores/Aplus Rewards:
Enroll, pick up, count and send in collected items as required by the sponsors.
Ways & Means: Determine the main fundraiser for the school for the fall. Organize orders and money received.
Deliver the items to the families who placed orders.
Yearbook: Gather pictures throughout the school year. Edit, publish, and coordinate the sale and distribution of yearbook.
