My name is Michael VanBuren and I am excited to be the assistant principal at McDonald Elementary School. I will work collaboratively with the faculty and staff at McDonald to help all of our students succeed.
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Syracuse University (Go Orange!) and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from University of Massachusetts Amherst. Most recently, I have received a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Gwynedd-Mercy College.
I started my professional career at the A.B. Bruce School (Grades 3-8) in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where I taught classroom and general music. In 2001, my wife and I move to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. I was hired as a music teacher at Klinger Middle School, and I have taught classroom music, and directed the bands and jazz band during my tenure at Klinger. I have also taught two years of instrumental music at Stackpole Elementary. In October 2010, I accepted the position of interim assistant principal at McDonald Elementary School, and have recently accepted the permanent role of assistant principal.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters. My interests include bicycling, genealogy, and playing trombone.
I would be happy to provide you with assistance. You can contact me at vanbmi@centennialsd.org or (215)441-6157, ext 16002.
Sincerely,
