The "performance-based" course is designed to empower students so they can improve the quality of their lives by preparing them for meeting their present and future challenges and responsibilities as family members, consumers, home managers, and wage earners, living in a diverse, global society.

The curriculum addresses the functioning of families and their interrelationships with work, community and society. The focus is on the reoccurring, practical problems of individuals and families.

Students are taught to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Comprehensive classroom experiences and "performance-based" activities allow students to develop the knowledge and skills needed in making choices to meet their personal, family and work responsibilities.
