Senior Experience
The goal of the WTHS Senior Experience is to provide 12th grade students with the opportunity to explore a career interest in-depth during a field-based experience. Students will arrange a placement for themselves, which will be approved by the principal, and will shadow the daily and direct operations of a professional in the field of their choice for a three-week period at the end of the fourth marking period in-lieu-of attending their daily school schedule. Students who participate in Senior Experience will be exempted from final exams, however, each student will be required to complete a weekly journal and to deliver a presentation to his/her faculty advisor at the end of the experience.
In order to qualify for this opportunity, students must be in good standing at WTHS as demonstrated by:
Academic Achievement - Final grades of C or higher in all classes
Attendance- no more than 20 combined lateness and absences, excused and unexcused
Discipline - no discipline consequences beyond an administrative detention
Applications will be submitted beginning in the second semester of senior year. Student applications will be reviewed by school administrators prior to approval.
